BIO
Elin Nilsson
My name is Elin and I live in Sweden togheter with my partner in life. I share the passion for champagne with all of you and most of my #champagnemoments is shared on my IG account where you also find a lot of #foodpairings. As soon as I have some time off from work you will probably find me in the kitchen with a glass of bubbly in my hand. My love for this sparkling pleasure started when I noticed the diversity of champagne and it really is THE best wine with food, no doubt.
Which Champagne would You treat your parents or in-laws?
‘I would probably go for something smooth, elegant and quite easy drinking. Maybe a multi vintage from one of the bigger houses. I have noticed that Louis Roederer’s new cuvée Collection 242 is a real crowd pleaser, so let´s go for that one! ‘
Which Champagne would You treat your lover?
‘I think it has to be a Dom Pérignon. Ever since our first year togheter we celebrate a success by enjoying a bottle of Dom Pérignon – the perfect motivation don´t you think! If I can get my hands on the 2008 I sure will, I´m lucky to have got to taste it several times and it´s a stunning vintage – just like him 😉 ‘
Which Champagne would You treat your boss?
‘It´s time to bring out a young, vibrant and clean Blanc de Blancs because I know she loves it. I will definitely go for something that I know she haven´t tried yet. What do you say about 100% Grand Cru, Cramant? I say Bonnaire Cramant vintage 2012, it will benefit from a few more years in the cellar but she prefers her champagne young, crisp and citrusy juicy just how I remember it! ‘
Which Champagne would You treat yourself?
‘Ok, the toughest question to answer so far. So many styles and producers to choose from! At the moment I´m trying to explore, for me, new producers and mostly from smaller growers. Spring is around the corner and so is the craving for rosé champagnes (even though I drink it all year round – it´s a fantastic wine with food!). A rosé that I have been wanting to try for quite some time now is the Emotion Rosé from Vilmart & Cie, I have heard so much about it.’
Which Champagne would You treat a dream guest, and why?
‘I´m so happy for the people that I have “met” because of this amazing community of champagne lovers from all over the world, and I would love to finally sit down and have a chat while enjoying something bubbly in the glass! I would bring something from Charles Heidsieck because in my opinion any cuvée from that house is impressive. Of course the diamond amongst Charles cuvées would be just right for this moment so any Blanc de Millénaires vintage, maybe the classic 1995? I would be very happy to taste it myself. ‘
[ what piece of music would you listen to drinking wine with Your dream guest ?]
‘O – Coldplay, because it´s a beautiful song. ‘
