I have worked in the wine industry my whole career, partially taking care of the Champagne catalogue at different Swedish importers. Today I work at Domaine Wines which has grown to one of the largest importers of Champagne in Sweden but also sells Richard Juhlin’s own wines, with and without alcohol.

Which Champagne would You treat your parents or in-laws?
‘They pretty much enjoy anything I put in front of them. But I usually try to introduce something off the beaten track of standard Bruts from the big marques. Last week it was Moussé Fils ‘Anecdote lieu-dit Les Varosses‘, for example. It is a Chardonnay planted in vineyards in Cuisles that is usually associated with Pinot Meunier, giving it a quite unique character.‘
Which Champagne would You treat your lover?
‘When my wife got pregnant three years ago, we immediately started discussing what the first Champagne to drink after giving birth. So, after a nine month long discussion we decided on Krug 2002. Far too young but it was still a rememberable moment. My wife just had a few sips so I had to finish most of it myself… ‘
Which Champagne would You treat your boss?
‘It would probably be something from our company portfolio. Pommery ‘Grand Cru Vintage’ 2008 is very impressive and I applaud Pommery for holding on to their vintage wine for 12 years before release.‘
Which Champagne would You treat yourself?
‘Here’s where I really splurge! I rarely drink the same Champagne more than once since I generally want to discover something new. But one producer that I always come back to is Bérêche. Their Brut Réserve never fails to impress.‘
Which would You treat a dream guest, and why, and who’s is Your dream guest?
‘Without any sucking up, Richard Juhlin has long been a personal hero of mine. Björn Borg got every Swede to start playing tennis and Richard got every Swede interested in Champagne. But what the hell do I serve a guy that has tasted everything already? To broaden his perspective, I’d serve him a sparkling wine I make myself from Pinot Meunier and Solaris grapes that I grow in my father’s garden in Stockholm. I jokingly say that I am the largest grower of Pinot Meunier in Sweden with my seven vines. ‘
What piece of music would you listen to drinking wine in question 5 ? ]
‘The soundtrack at home has a rather narrow range between Norwegian space disco and German techno. Without knowing Richard that well, he’d probably hate it. ‘
