Every Friday TheChampagneSommelier will ask 5 questions about 5 coeur de bouteilles to friends and Champagne lovers from near and far. This week we had a bubbly chat with Tim Hall.
BIO TIM HALL
A champagne specialist based in the UK and working almost exclusively with champagne.I am head over heels in love with champagne and Champagne – maybe the most complex wine in theworld with the most wonderful people.
As Scala Wine London, I import 12 small producers to the UK market, which I prefer to call ‘single estates’ and other often call ‘grower champagnes’. To me, although I love many wines from the big brands, this is where the most creativity is going on in Champagne.
I also write for various wine publications about champagne – notably TheWorld of Fine Wine and JancisRobinson.com. I am also co-director of The Champagne Top 100 which I organise in London with wine Club 67 Pall Mall. Finally I guide business groups in Champagne. I visit Champagne some 8-10 times a year. I am a UK Champagne Ambassador and won second place back in 2013 as a European Champagne Ambassador.
