Doyard-Mahé
Vertus
★★
Martine Doyard is rightly proud of her grandfather who founded CIVC. Nowadays they have at their disposal 6 hectares at Vertus planted with 90% Chardonnay and they make modern, pure champagnes in steel tanks with malolactic fermentation. I am very delighted with the Legras-like depth they succeed in creating from the Vertus Chardonnay which is otherwise slightly too round and wanting in minerals. Fine, lightly toasted tones that reach their crescendo in the vintage 2002 are to be found in the majority of the wines.
