CHAMPAGNE TASTING DINNERS by Champagne Club & Richard Juhlin
10 PEOPLE – 19 VINTAGES For me, Krug ‘Clos du Mesnil’ is he best wine in the world! The Clos d´Ambonnay is a shockingly expensive rarity that has only just been launched. The most costly young champagne in the world is worth 3,000 euros per bottle which does not seem to frighten away Krug fans since all 3,000 bottles are already booked up. The wine itself is fantastic most especially since it is clearly a brother belonging to the same sibling group in the Krug family.
10 PEOPLE – 24 CHAMPAGNES Salon is the most sought-after Champagne among connoisseurs. This magnificent wine is so rare that only a few people have had the chance to taste the quintessence of Le Mesnil.
10 PEOPLE – 25 CHAMPAGNES The vintage has over the years been heavily criticized due to its extreme acidity. It is believed that the wine journalists have hyped the vintage to the skies. You would ask the winemakers instead! Probably one of the greatest vintages of all time. Not since 1928 has such a high acidity been seen in combination with high potential alcohol, which should ensure a really long life. Just like 1990, there are examples of wines that are made from almost overripe grapes with lower acidity. These examples show an open oxidative and rounded profile.
