This week TheChampagneSommelier & Richard Juhlin got invited to a session with the new Louis Roederer ‘Collection 242’ @ the classic establishment Operakällaren in Stockholm. Everyone agrees that Louis Roederer is one of the leading Champagne producers. They can also claim the world title after being named ‘Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year’ at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships.

The new Louis Roederer ‘Collection 242’

Louis Roederer cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon launched a new multi-vintage cuvée the other week then he said marks the ‘end of an era for Brut sans année in Champagne’.

The new cuvée is called ‘Collection 242’, because the inaugural cuvée was based around the 2017 vintage, which he said was the 242^nd harvest since the foundation of Roederer in 1776.
