Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Representing hours of handwork and exchange amongst selected French metalwork artisans, only eight examples of this opulent piece have been made as the reserve of the collector, the ultimate gift, or to commemorate once-in-a-lifetime moments of triumph or personal achievement.

The Moët & Chandon Special Edition Jeroboam

By its size and stature alone, containing three liters or the equivalent of four bottles of champagne,  a Jeroboam bottle expresses grandeur and generosity; the Moët & Chandon Special Edition Jeroboam bottle furthermore adds nobility and brilliance. Covered in brass, including a built-in pedestal base, it is wrapped with a laurel wreath around its bottleneck—instead of the habitual ribbon tie and seal—and finished in gold leaf to evoke luminous prestige.

The Moët & Chandon Special Edition Jeroboam bottle receives a laurel crown as adornment, a delicate sculpture forged in bronze by the hands of French metalwork artisan and artist Anouchka Potdevin in her design studio in Brittany. The laurel is a powerful symbol of glory in Western culture, associated with Apollo, the ancient Greek god of music, poetry, sports, and games. In both ancient Greece and Rome, laurel wreaths were given to victors in athletic competitions, as well as to generals who led armies to victory. It poises this special edition as a modern-day trophy, meanwhile honoringhistorical triumphs.

Moët & Chandon champagne bottle is a total vision of gold. The Maison called upon the expertise and talents of Nicolas Pinon and Dimitry Hlinka, both winners of the 2020 Liliane Bettencourt Prize pour l’Intelligence de la Main®

Dimitry Hlinka blends ancestral know-how and new technologies with dexterity; he gives metal form to the iconic Moët & Chandon bottle label, understanding the technical challenges and aesthetic stakes involved in reformulating bottle details with unchartered materials. Nicolas Pinon, meanwhile, adds the spectacular gold touch. As a decorative lacquerer and true virtuoso of exceptional finishes, having studied with masters of the art in Japan, his skills blend the traditional and contemporary. He worked the gold-leaf gilt finish on the bottle, shimmering with light at the finest of movements.

Familiar yet sublimated, champagne yet served in an unusually ceremonial style, this is a Moët & Chandon Jeroboam for the eras.

The Moët & Chandon Special Edition Jeroboam bottle, an invitation to touch history, and to own a legacy, is priced at 25,000 € and it is available at the House’s boutique in Épernay.
