Tasting note – 2016 Bonnaire ‘Le Bâteau’

100 chardonnay

92(94)p

Tasting note ‘New exciting vineyard wine to taste side by side with Terres des Buissons. In the latter, it has been decided that the somewhat more muscular character of the vineyard can handle Argonne oak barrels and has pulled that gear properly.

Le Bâteau, on the other hand, is vinified in steel tanks and the differences in character are extremely large. It is possible that the oak of Terres des Buissons will integrate into greatness with long aging, but for now I hold Le Bâteau Cramant as the better of the two. A kind of essence of everything that has made us love Bonnaire over the years. So silky seamless and beautifully sensually brushed. Beautiful floral notes, toffee and both lemon and lime in the green-yellow and at the same time fluffy taste.’
